The installation focused in particular on marks left by Merce Cunningham’s dancers as they leaned against the walls during rehearsal. The casts were displayed horizontally in four-foot-square light boxes on shin-high platforms and arranged according to Cunningham’s grid system, based on the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching. A soundtrack drew on archival recordings of Cunningham preparing his company to perform Exchange, Roaratorio, and CRWDSPCR.
