Speeding Down The Spiral: An Artful Adventure, takes place in the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City—a magnificent building that holds many masterpieces of modern and contemporary art.
The story is my own fantastic tale of what might take place should someone accidentally let go of a stroller at the top of Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous spiral. What ensues is a madcap chase that involves a cast of museum characters and visitors, resolving soundly on the rotunda floor. Along the way down the spiral, however, young readers are introduced to beautiful masterworks from the Guggenheim’s collection. These works are woven into the story, and inspire action on the part of the book’s protagonist. It is my hope that children read this story and feel the same excitement, and begin a lifelong appreciation for art.
